My work sits where many disciplines meet but don't always get along. I move between design, media and web development, and while they look like separate crafts on paper, they've always felt like one skill to me, just expressed in different languages.
I like being the person who notices the small thing everyone else scrolls past. The awkward pause in a video, the button that's a few pixels off, the shadow that makes a photo feel honest instead of staged. It's not glamorous work most of the time, but I still get a small thrill watching an edit come together in real time, or seeing an interface finally feel obvious instead of clever.
The role of the designer is that of a good, thoughtful host anticipating the needs of his guests.
