The JACS 2027 home page in a browser window, with the symposium logo beside the title

A congress website built around the idea of Kintsugi.

The problem

The site had to carry the Kintsugi theme and still do the plain work of a congress site: dates, venue, programme and registration.

Design

Kintsugi is the Japanese craft of repairing broken ceramics with gold, so the repair becomes part of the piece. The site carries that idea without decorating around it: warm paper, a serif display face and thin gold rules. The symposium logo, a red sun holding Mount Fuji and Table Mountain over a shared tree, anchors the home page. Deep crimson is used for every action, and gold marks the structure.

Structure

The home page leads with the dates, a countdown, and the two things a delegate wants first: registering and seeing the programme. The rest of the site covers travel and venue, sponsors, partnering with the symposium, and a gallery from the 2025 meeting.

Registration

A two-step delegate form, details then confirmation, with the current step shown at the top so delegates always know how much is left.
